Did Malala Yousafzai deserve the Nobel Prize?

Malala Yousafzai.

A name unheard of till some years ago, 'shot' (pun intended) to fame!

She is the youngest ever Nobel Peace prize Laureate and is being celebrated as a Pakistani activist for female education. She has co-authored a book "I am Malala" and has now been given a honorary Canadian citizenship.

Is she really someone worthy of such applause? Is she really the face of female education? Is she the winner of the war against Taliban?

Is Malala worthy of a Nobel prize?

My answer - an emphatic NO.

Malala did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. And according to me, Nobel Prize is getting more irrelevant by awarding people like Malala.

Her father is a good salesman and his daughter a good salesgirl. Their idea is something the west loves. A young girl fighting against a huge oppressive enemy. An enemy the west hates. Sort of like David vs Goliath.

Are they CIA conspirators? I don't know, but many seem to think so.

Nobel Prize for Peace is increasingly becoming a political decision. Much like Obama got his award. You might remember the year in which Malala won her award, an Indian too got the award- Satyarthi. I presume, the line of thought of the panel that year was - one Hindu and one Muslim, one Indian and one Pakistani share the stage together.

Nothing that she did deserves such an award.

Many in Pakistan believe that the CIA are/were grooming her and think her attack was staged by them to promote their agenda. Otherwise how can someone shot in the face survive? Why was she the only one airlifted to U.K.? What about her 4 friends who too suffered injuries?

Mr. Tarriq Khattak, former editor of Pakistan Observer says,"How can they miss a girl from point blank range or a few feet and then she survives?" When pressed for why he didn't believe the story, Khattak said: "Why — when she traveled to UK and the hospital release her picture, there were no marks at all of her bullet wound?" And adds, "She's nothing special, nothing in her is special at all except they are selling what the West would buy happily."

She is supposed to be a girl who "gave her heart and soul, her life, to Pakistan, still continues to do so, is loved everywhere, and will continue to fight for girls in Pakistan". So is she back in Pakistan to fight her fight? No.

"I am ready to tell the world that Pakistan is a safe place and teams should go there and play cricket,” Malala told reporters at Edgbaston. “What the outside world thinks about Pakistan is not true and all those terrorists are not Pakistanis, so teams should come and play in Pakistan and wherever I will go I will tell the world about this".

She lives in Birmingham, UK with her family.

If we lap up the words, we are plain idiots. She is a hypocrite.

Her running away and living in another country, gorging on her celebrity status and spitting out 'politically correct' words (probably dropped into her mouth by others), while girls in her own country and around the world still continue to suffer (remember Boko Harem and the 200 school girls? Or Yazidi girls becoming sex slaves?) is a victory of the Taliban. And not hers.

I would have applauded her if she won even a small fight against the regressive Taliban mindset and their many ideas of oppressing women. She has not yet made any mark on the society.

The Prize has arrived much before it was due. Fruit tasted from a tree even before the seeds were sown.

She just added a small torch beam on the persistent fire smoldering in many (Muslim dominated) countries.

I will not go to the extend of calling her 'useless' like Mr. Khattar did, as she has successfully rescued herself and her family from Pakistan.
