Today is Mother’s Day.
ഇന്ന് മദേഴ്‌സ് ഡേയ്.

And today we (this admin) would like to share a prayer which was passed by word of mouth through generations from one mother to the new mother-to-be.
ഇന്ന് ഒരു ശ്ലോകം (പ്രാർത്ഥന) നിങ്ങളുമായി പങ്കു വെക്കാം. പല തലമുറകളായി പകർന്നു കിട്ടിയ അറിവാണ് ഈ ശ്ലോകം. അമ്മൂമ്മയിൽ നിന്നും, അമ്മയ്ക്കും, അമ്മയിൽ നിന്നും അമ്മയാകാൻ പോകുന്ന മകൾക്കും.

This prayer was given to this admin by her grandmother and mother when she was expecting her first child.

While this prayer can be recited by all; it is supposed to be especially beneficial for pregnant women and those in labour.
ഈ മന്ത്രം ആർക്കും ഉരുവിടാം; എന്നാൽ ഗർഭിണി ആയ സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും പ്രസവ സന്ദർഭത്തിൽ എത്തി നിൽക്കുന്ന സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും വിശേഷാൽ ഫലപ്രദം.

It is said that when a cow is calving; Lord Parameswara and Goddess Parvathy are present with the cow in the cow shed taking care of her. This prayer used to be repeated then too when the cow in labour used to be circumbulated.
ഗോമാതാവിനു പേറ്റുനോവ് എടുക്കുമ്പോൾ സാക്ഷാൽ ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരനും പാർവതി ദേവിയും അവിടെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമാവുകയും, ഗോമാതാവിനു പ്രസവ സംരക്ഷണ നൽകുന്നതായും ആണ് വിശ്വാസം. പേറ്റുനോവ് എടുത്തു നിൽക്കുന്ന ഗോമാതാവിനു പ്രദക്ഷിണം വെക്കുന്ന സമ്പ്രദായം ഉണ്ട്. ആ സമയത്തു ഈ മന്ത്രം ആവർത്തിച്ചു ജപിക്കുന്നത് വിശേഷമാണ്. ഗോമാതാവിനോടൊപ്പം പാർവതി സമേത പരമേശ്വരനെയും പ്രദക്ഷിണം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഫലം എന്ന വിശേഷണം കൂടി ഇതിനുണ്ട്.

Shloka:
मात्रु भूतेश्वरं देवो
भक्तानां इष्ट दायका
सुगन्धिं कुन्दला नाथा
चन्द्रा चन्द्रशेखरा

Matr bootheswaram devo,
Bhakthanaam ishta dayaka,
Suganthim kundala natha,
Chandra chandrashekhara.

മാതൃ ഭൂതേശ്വരം ദേവോ
ഭക്താനാം ഇഷ്ട ദായക
സുഗന്തിമ്‌ കുണ്ഡല നാഥാ
ചന്ദ്ര ചന്ദ്രശേഖര

Meaning:
Oh! Siva who also becomes a mother,
(Oh! Siva, the one with Motherly qualities)
One who grants all wishes,
Lord of the Devi with fragrant hair,
I pray to you Siva, the one who wears moon on his head.
അർത്‌ഥം
ഓ! ശിവ നീ അമ്മയും ആകുന്നല്ലോ
(അമ്മയുടെ ഗുണങ്ങളുള്ള പരമേശ്വരൻ )
എല്ലാ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങളും പ്രദാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവനെ
സുഗന്ധമാം കാർകൂന്തൽ ഉള്ള ദേവിയുടെ നാഥനെ
ജടയിൽ ചന്ദ്രനെ ചൂടിയ നിന്നോട് ഞാൻ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു

This prayer shows how much Lord Siva cares for all of us.
He will be with us through all the tough times, all one needs to do is call Him.
ഈ മന്ത്രത്തിലൂടെ നമുക്ക് പരമേശ്വരന്റെ നമ്മോടുള്ള അളവറ്റ സ്നേഹവും വാത്സല്യവും അറിയാൻ കഴിയും. നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ കഠിനമായ വഴികളിലും ശ്രീ പരമേശ്വരൻ നമ്മോടൊപ്പം ഉണ്ടാകും - ഒന്ന് സ്‌മരിക്കുകയേ വേണ്ടൂ.
