My mother-in-law

My #motherinlaw ..

A VERY #pretty #elegant #strong #capable #woman who could have easily ruled the world, under different circumstances.

She is the ONLY reason why I paint & why I am a tanjore artist .

She had joined a tanjore painting class when she was 60+ (tells a lot about her strong will)... & once she finished...she insisted that I join the class.

I said to her, ”I draw..at best stick figures or some copied images with some ‘me’ twists!”

She insisted & being my mil I could not say No. And at that time my second child had started school, plus I had been gifted a car (by my parents). I thought ...whynot ...

The rest as they say is history!

I have till date completed 75+ paintings (may be more..don’t know 😬) & my paintings are in different parts of the world...USA,Australia,Dubai..even Italy. And in various parts of India .

I know she takes great pride in all my work ... Something not many daughter in laws (especially Indian)can say with confidence.

I earn pocket money to meet my painting and some personal expenses. I have realised what a beautiful feeling it is to be able to buy your nieces clothes with my own money !

I cannot say I am an independent woman ...only because I am not professional , but a lazy bum !!

But for me the greatest question is ... how did she see the artist in me?

In this photo, she had come for her heart checkup and was giving me suggestions on improving my work.

This woman - she never seizes to surprise me with her positivity & zest for life !! (She is 78 now and insists on taking care of her bedridden 86 year old husband.) Simply amazing.
