Sari story
On the last day of the #malayalam year 1197 …
Take a look at the #saree I am wearing…
It is a gift from my #akka … Kavitha Ganesan‘s mom..
I had visited #chennai years ago (think #2005 … that means #17yearsago ) with my parents and on the last day of #visit had gone shopping to #nalli or #kumaransilks in #tnagar …
This #sari had been seen by some previous customer and a part of it was peeping from under a pile of bright colours..
The black #polkadots on whitish cream background and the brightly painted #flowers caught my fancy.
“Price?”, I enquired.
“₹1400.”
A princely sum. #unaffordable
Till I left the store, I held on to the beautiful art which I could have worn, if only I could just afford it. #😔
Harish and I had just started our #journey after leaving the family business and every #paisa #ruppee was precious.
On her next visit to #kerala … Shanthi Ganesan presented that same sari to me!! #wow #🥲 #🥹
She had gone all the way back to the store after we left #madras to get it for me.
This sari is #precious ..It is a reminder that I am #loved ..& the distance Harish and I have covered.
