Choosing battles

Since last night my mind has been hovering over #london - Rishi Sunak. A person of Indian origin is going to head the government which had colonised India! #karmarocks

I am thinking of his (& family’s) excitement, the work he has done and the monumental task ahead of him…
I literally ‘stalked’ him yesterday.

And this morning I got up and remembered it was Surya Grahanam or Solar eclipse.
Since it was affecting my birth star the most, I was advised to not eat anything the whole day. Ahem, let’s tweak it!

I decided to eat a heavy breakfast and fast till tomorrow morning.
Since there was a timeframe - I was racing against the clock and Harish left for the temple.

The door bell rang. It was the car cleaner.

“Oh! My husband took the car to the temple.” I said.
“What temple? Temples are closed now because of the eclipse.” He said with a scoff.
“No, Ernakulathappan Temple  is closed only in the evening from 5.15 pm to 6 pm.” I exclaimed.
“All temples have shut doors at 8 am.” He asserted.

My blood pressure was rising…
“Then I wonder where my husband went?”
I mocked.
He sniggered and started moving towards the staircase…

I started fuming.

My mind was racing.
I know for a fact, that he is wrong. I have photographic evidence. Even Guruvayur temple is closed only for an hour and a half this evening. He is wrong.

Suddenly I remembered the quote - “You are only as big as the things that irritate you.”

Do I gain anything by winning this war of words?
Do I really need to show him “evidence”?
Is he a worthy opponent?

Need I even argue?

He had started moving down the stairs, but his eyes were fixed on me.
I gave a fake smile and shut the front door.

Time in India : 0900 hrs
Time in London: 0430 hrs

How many such irritating episodes do you think Rishi Sunak would have gone through in his journey as a politician? Do you think he reached this post by winning small petty arguments?

Surely, he has ‘risen’ to be the Prime Minister of United Kingdom by learning to choose his battles.

Rising above, is a fine art.
I think I took a small step in that direction today.

Now ….to stop the ‘fuming’ on the inside.
