Today is the #samadhi day of #sriraghavendraswami and it is being celebrated with great pomp @hanumankovil …

I was invited for pooja & lunch and the #oscar winning #soundmixer Sri.Resul Pookutty came for #darshan & lunch!!

He was welcomed and honoured and given prasad.

After #selfintroduction & #selfie , I shared with him my indignation…

All the #melam which I #livetelecast for @ernakulathappantemplecomplex -#ekmulsavam & other #temple functions gets #copyrightstrike on YouTube. I do not monetise any of Ernakulathappan’s content, but it gets muted. 

His movie - The Sound story -has Thrissur Pooram sound as the base. The audio rights are with Sony Music.

And AI recognises some Melam beats and strikes the whole thing!

I record Peruvanam Kuttan Marar at Ernakulathappan and he is the percussionist for Ilanjithara Melam in Thrissur. How can both be same? There would be similarities, but there IS differences.

Sri.Resul listened to my complaints and said he has spoken to Sony about this. Others too have raised the same issue. Sony has rights only over 3 recordings.

He advised me to email Sony and tell them about these strikes. And they usually revoke it asap.

I am so glad Ernakulathappan put me in direct touch with the root of my problem, reminded me to speak about it (not allowing me to get star struck & tongue tied!) and helped me find a solution.
