Random meeting of strangers

 

Happiness is about meeting random strangers and our thoughts meeting for fleeting moments. We are enriched from the 10 minute interaction we had with Saro & Ranjith. 

Chitra & I were paying Ranjith for the book we purchased when I saw a bunch of ‘new-gen’ strolling by without as much as a glance to what is a magnet for people like me!  

I started talking about the pleasures of holding a book in hand, the smell of it and how a tablet can never really replace books. Ranjith said forlornly that the days of shops like his were numbered.

A young girl trying to choose between the 5 books on spirituality & mountains in hand suddenly invited us to Shantiniketan. “The slow life is not for everyone, but I think you all will love it there.”

It was interesting to hear how Saro, from Thrissur ended up in Ravindranath Tagore’s village. 

The golden leaves in Sonajhuri sound so enticing. 

We parted … hoping to meet again in subarnarekha book shop…
