Father’s Day
My father’s name is Parameswaran.
Lord Siva is Parameswaran.
But to my biological father, I have to open my mouth and show him my mind, pour out my thoughts. He may / may not listen. And there are things he has done, which have scarred me for life. Like his male chauvinism which allowed his son getting more rights, privileges…. including, more education than me. I have nothing against my brother, he was just born in the right gender.
Excuses can be made, but the inability to accept a female as being capable and enhancing her powers (so that she can stand on her own feet) was my bane.
Luckily for me, my Punkunnathappan (Punkunnam Siva temple) saw this and pushed me to live with a man who successfully grew out of his regressive mold. Harish is the father of my girls and everything I want my father to be. (I am torn between having him as my dad or husband in my next janma.)
Ernakulathappan. He knows me. I don’t tell Him anything. He reads me like a book. He is the author of my life story. Whatever He has done, is a blessing. He is the force behind me.
How can I not thank Him enough?
Happy Father’s Day.
